KCC Sportive – Thanks for the Support

240 brave cycling souls tackled Le Tour de Staveley sportive last Saturday in horrendous weather. The 45 mile long course took in the usual quiet ‘rolling’ country lanes of South Lakeland, mixed with three testing climbs of Tow Top, Rusland and the infamous Gummers Howe.

What sets the event apart is the social aspect with a welcome stop at the Hare & Hounds pub then on to Wilf’s café for a delicious French themed meal and Hawkshead Brewery for liquid refreshment and Le Tour de France on the big screen.

The event is designed as a social sportive ride but we did have some fast times despite the weather: Rich Bailey, Joe Boothroyd and Josh Granger all coming in together at 2 hr 31.

All proceeds of Le Tour de Staveley will be donated to Kendal Cycle Club to further develop and foster talent from the region.

A HUGE THANKS to all those that helped marshal and put the signs up. Without you we wouldn’t have had an event.

Same again next year…without the rain!
